So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Interesting things I have learned so far learned today:

-You can’t bring Snow Globes through security when traveling on Air Canada. I think the ‘snow’ might interrupt air control signals?

-There are NO signs in Canadian Airports (which I’ve also noticed in Toronto). They must expect the ol’ Mountie blood to kick in and help with tracking. It’s a good thing all of the Canadians I saw looked ready to hike a mountain; complete with tracking boots and a even a pink fishing pole (Note to self: add to Christmas list!)

-Just in case your Mountie blood wasn’t flowing strong enough, there were plenty of pictures of them…on horseback…among evergreens….holding snow globes!…And plenty of pictures of moose (mooses? meese?)

-Canadian Planes often have broken reading lights that won’t turn off, making sleep nearly impossible. When brought up to the stewardess, the reply is, “Seat A5? Ok, I’ll add it to the list!” Helpful!

-German flight attendants also ride bicycles through the airports. With little baskets. And a horn.

-Apparently ‘football’ is so exciting that it has to be played everywhere, all the time. Today’s new field? The moving sidewalks between terminals of course!

-German stewardesses ALL look like supermodels.

-Probably because European Duty Frees are even better than a Sephora!

The Last Blogger

Adventure is worthwhile in itself. - Amelia Earhart

Here I go, about to embark on the adventure that is blogging!

Although this is merely the first in a series of adventures that I’m beginning this week, it’s the only one I can achieve from the comfort of my own couch, making it a ’practically perfect’ way to start!

Since I’m certainly not alone in my exploration of the Blogging Universe, I sort of feel as though I’m running to catch the bandwagon. As the self proclaimed “Last Blogger,” I feel like I have a duty to follow all of the incredible instructions, formats, and guidelines set up by those more experienced than myself. But the only rule that I cheerfully subscribe to is What I Wore’s suggestion to look at blogs you love and to analyze them.

I began following this rule before I even dreamed of creating my own, sort of as a happy accident. My last internship project at New York City Opera included research on local fashion and society bloggers (I know, I know…my life is so hard), and there I stumbled into this amazing forum!

So while it may take me awhile to adjust to the new rules of the trade, I’m excited to continue exploring the wonderful blogs that exist, while attempting to add my own unique stamp.

My hope is that I am able to take you along on some of my journeys; from the streets of New York City to the ancient Medici walls in Tuscany, this summer holds promise of at least a few interesting posts!

So if you’re up for a bit of adventure, away we go!

Every life is narrow. Our only escape is not to run away, but to learn to love the people we are and the world in which we find ourselves.
